Re: Aquarium Drunkard » Four Men Reflect On The 20th Anniversary of Gish…

That was a great write up and a great find Wheeler.  Admittedly, I was always a little behind you guys on the music scene at that age (or any age really) still clinging to my Rush but finding a new sound in Primus (thanks to one Aaron Coker).  Anyway, since nostalgia seems to be the theme of these album anniversaries, I have to mention that my memories of Gish are sitting in that downstairs office at Owen's house drinking some God-awful beer at the wee hours of the morning thinking to myself that I was not ready for it.  Be it the sound or overall feel of the album, something wasn't right as I listened to it.  Although, I have to admit that I liked the drumming.  But now thinking back it was those moments with my best friends listening to never-before-heard music that formed my musical basis that I have today.  For that I am thankful.  I'm not sure why it took so long for me to appreciate good guitar and heavy pounding rhythm sections but those moments paved the way.  Like a driver that can't find first gear, I finally did somewhere during college.  Did Gish start it all for me?  Not sure but it never went unnoticed.

I love you guys!  (stupid nostalgia...)
